The Pennant Motors Hall of Fame

The Pennant Motors Hall of Fame is a showcase of some of the most rare and special cars we've sold over the years. All of us at Pennant Motors are car enthusiasts, and every so often cars come through our dealership that really excite us. The Hall of Fame is a selection of these cars.

1985 Mercedes-Benz 560 SEC

This spectacular classic Mercedes-Benz was a gray market import, meaning that it was originally intended for the European market, but was imported to the United States privately. It had very low mileage, and features special bumpers and headlamps because of its gray market status. This car now resides in New York City.

1994 Subaru SVX LSi

Those who know us know that we are major Subaru SVX fans here at Pennant. We're always on the lookout for special SVXs, and this one takes the cake. It was a one owner car that had only 69,000 miles. This color SVX (Pearl White) was an expensive extra-cost option, and only available for two years on the SVX, with 1994 being the most rare by far. Only 83 of these cars were ever made in 1994 with this special paint process. This car was sold to our good friend Michelle in Colorado.

1983 BMW 733i

This classic BMW came to us directly from Hawaii. It basically fell into our laps as the original owner had it in Hawaii since it was new, then moved to the Erie area, and wanted to trade it in on an All Wheel Drive car. The best part? Only 66,000 original miles! This car was sold to long-time customer Adam from right here in Erie.

2002 Saab 9-5 Aero 5 Speed

Saab 9-5 Aeros are special cars in general, however when you find one in the incredible Cosmic Blue color, with an ultra rare 5 Speed manual transmission, and a nearly impossible to find catalog rear wing, you have a car that is nearly priceless! We found this car in Florida and had it shipped up to offer for sale on eBay. On top of everything, it only had 52,000 miles. This beautiful Saab was sold to a gentleman in the Boston, MA area.

1991 Cadillac Fleetwood

If there were a car here that would fit into a "one of these things is not like the others" challenge, this would be it. We focus on European cars, but we do recognize a special car when we see one. Less than 100 of these Fleetwoods were made in this special color, Light Antelope Firemist, and this one owner car only had 68,000 miles. It now resides on Long Island.

1997 Mazda MX-5 Miata STO Edition

Miatas are arguably one of the best drivers cars ever made, and the 1997 STO Edition improved on this with many handling enhancements along with some beautiful exterior upgrades including exclusive Twilight Blue paint. This STO had only 62,000 miles and now resides in Buffalo, NY.

1997 Mercedes-Benz S600

In 1997 the S600 was the flagship of the three pointed star brand, and our data shows that less than 30 of these cars were sold in North America for that year. At over $130,000 new, only very special people could afford to own these marvels of technology and build quality. With its massive 6.0 litre V12 engine, these massive cars still performed better than many sports coupes. This car now lives an easy life in south Florida.

1999 Jaguar XJR

The XJ is Jaguar's full size motorway cruiser, and the "R" model takes this and adds a beast of a supercharged V8 engine. These cars feature blinding speed, and a driving feel like nothing elese on the road. Some feel that the classic Jaguar feel was lost when these cars were finally redesigned in 2004. This XJR can now be found driving around upstate New York.

2000 BMW 740iL Orinocco Highline

This body style 7 Series, the E38, is widely regarded as one of the best looking european sedans ever made. For the two final years of production of this car, BMW offered a $3000 premium option package called "Highline." It was available in two flavors, Nachtblau, and Orinocco. The vast majority of these came in the Nachtblau variety which was finished in a special dark blue exterior color, and a two tone blue and ecru interior color. This, however, is an Orinocco Highline which means it was painted in the exclusive Orinocco Green exterior color with Ecru napa leather piped english green. They featured english green carpets and dash, and extended leather on the door panels. We estimate that less than 500 of these cars were ever made. This car now lives in South Carolina.

1994 Mercedes-Benz E420

The early 90s were the pinnicle of Mercedes-Benz build quality. These are the cars that are known to run forever and ever with little to no maintenance. This car spent its entire life in Florida with just one owner. Its 4.2 Litre V8 made it quite a screamer, too. This car now resides in Georgia.

1994 Nissan 300ZX Convertible

To say that these 300ZX convertibles are rare would be an extreme understatement. In 1994 just under 800 were produced. In fact, many people don't know they were ever made. Just like the coupe models, they feature Nissan's legendary and award winning V6 engine. Though these cars are not particularly fast, they are incredibly fun to drive. This one was especially fun with its upgraded fully adjustable suspension. The car's new home is in southern Ontario.

2003 Volvo V70 2.4

At first glance, you may be wondering why this car made our hall of fame. It's just a Volvo wagon, and we sell hundreds of those. What makes this car truly special is that it has the ultra-rare 5 speed manual transmission. Less than 1% of Volvos sold in North America are fitted with manual transmissions. On top of that, this particular example only had 65,000 miles. This is the kind of car people fight over! This V70 now lives in Cincinnati, OH.

1992 Mercedes-Benz 300E 4Matic

The 300E 4Matic offered one of the most advanced all wheel drive systems of the time. Utilizing a hydraulically activated clutch system which used the abs sensors to determine which wheels were slipping, this system pioneered the conventional all wheel drive that is used in many vehicles today. Very few of these cars were made, and even fewer survive. This 300E lived an easy life on the west coast before we acquired it, and now resides in the Poconos of PA.

2002 Lexus IS300 SportCross

The IS300 SportCross is one of the most rare vehicles that Toyota has ever produced. It takes their classic rear wheel drive Toyota Altezza with its inline 6 cylinder engine mounted up front, and adds a very practical hatch in place of a trunk. Only a few of these cars were made, and this one was even more interesting because of its Intensa Blue color with factory chrome wheels. This SportCross now lives in Southern California.

2001 Mercedes-Benz CLK430 AMG Sport

These V8 AMG Sport Coupes are quite rare on their own, but when finished in ultra-rare "Quartz Blue Metallic" paint, they certainly stand out. This is the only Quartz Blue CLK430 we have seen. Mercedes-Benz vehicles are usually finished in some shade of white, silver, or black. A bold, bright color like this is quite the exception. This car now resides in Florida.

2004 BMW X5 3.0

There is one simple thing that makes this BMW special. Its beautiful Estoril Blue paint. This color was reserved specifically for M3 vehicles at the time, and someone used BMW's Individual composition service to have this X5 finished in this exclusive color from the factory. This X5 is now located in New York.

2004 Jaguar XJR Supercharged

This XJR is the first year for the all-new all-aluminum body vehicles which provide a much more rigid and lightweight chassis. The performance they provide is incredible. This particular XJR spent its life in Florida until we acquired it. Its new owner is in Texas.

2007 Acura TL Type-S 6 Speed

The 6 Speed TL Type S cars are incredible and are quite different from the automatic versions. They have huge Brembo brakes, and a limited slip differential. This high-mileage example still ran and looked new, and is now owned by our good friend Steve in Texas.

2002 Audi TT ALMS Commemorative Edition

Only 500 of these special TT ALMS cars were made. They were available in two color combinations. This one is the gorgeus Avus Silver with red leather interior. These were 225hp all wheel drive models with the 6 Speed manual transmission. This particular example was "chipped" to increase its horsepower.

1991 Dodge Stealth R/T

With only 49,000 miles, this stealth was like a time capsule! The interior and exterior were in showroom-new condition. This is the non-turbo 4 cam version with an automatic transmission which makes it less interesting than the R/T Twin Turbo model, but still quite collectable. The car was purchased by a Dodge dealership in New York.

2000 Audi TT Neiman Marcus Edition No. 061/100

The very first Audi TTs made were only available for purchase through the 1998 Neiman Marcus Christmas Catalog. Only 100 of these very special TTs were produced and all were finished in Dolphin Gray with Mocassin leather interior. This is number 61 of 100 produced.

1995 Volvo 850 Turbo

This low-mileage 1 Owner 850 Turbo sedan is in nearly flawless condition. Finished in Classic Red, it really stands out. The paint was in incredibly flawless condition, and the interior was very nice too. The 1995 850 Turbo was the first car to feature side airbags. This car now resides in New York.

2000 Volvo S70 GLT SE

With only 29,000 miles, this S70 may be the nicest, lowest mileage example on the planet! It has only had one loving owner and the car is in like new condition. The GLT SE is a special trim level created to mark the end of production for the S70. These were the very last S70s made and feature many top of the line options as standard.
